During your India experience you will discover the hustle and bustle of the second most populous nation on earth, along with its rich cultural history and natural beauty. From the ‘golden triangle’ of Dehli, the Taj Mahal and Jaipur, your experience in India will be unlike anything you have done before. As a deeply religious country, all the major religions of the world are represented. Away from the noise and bustle of the more populated areas there are also plenty of peaceful and deeply spiritual places for you to discover.
Day 1-3
After arriving at Jaipur airport bright eyed and bushy tailed, you’ll be personally met at the airport and shown to your guest house where you’ll have the chance to get settled in to your new home. You’ll be spending the next two days in Jaipur, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore the city!
After breakfast on Day 2, you’ll have some spare time to weave in and out of the amazing Bazaars of Jaipur, where you’ll be able to experience how the locals live and take in the buzzing atmosphere. You’ll also get the chance to either learn how to shake your hips to a Bollywood rhythm, about the traditional Indian style dress, or the famous Indian art of Henna making.
On the 3rdday, you’ll be visiting the famous Amber Fort*, where you’ll even get the chance to ride an elephant up to the site! The rest of the day provides plenty of adrenaline rushes too- experience a Rickshaw Ride through the busy markets of Jaipur and the ‘Pink City’, and then you’ll have some time to chill in the buzzing Bazaars.

Day 4-5
After an early breakfast, you’ll transfer to Pushkar on Day 4- which is one of the holiest pilgrimages for Hindu’s and the home to the only temple of the ‘Creator’ God, Brahma. Once you’ve arrived in Pushkar, you’ll take on another exciting form of transport- camels! You’ll take a camel safari through sandy ravines of the Thar Desert and the local villages which lace the area. After sunset, you’ll enjoy a clear view of the star lit night sky, and you’ll spend the night in a tent, in the desert!
After breakfast we’ll return to Pushkar where you’ll take a leisurely guided tour of the town whilst exploring the steps to the Holy Lake and the town of 500 temples. You’ll then get some free time to raid the busy markets of Pushkar and stock up on some souvenirs! Afterwards, you’ll transfer to Lalsot where we’ll stay for the night.

Day 6-10
Between the 6th- 10thday, you’ll be volunteering on one of our projects in Laslot (which largely depends on the projects needs at the time, but you'll often get the chance to sample a bit of each project!).
We think schools and day centres should bounce with personality- and in Laslot we've been decorating and renovating the learning centres so the children have a fantastic place to learn. Fancy getting arty? This is the place.
We've also started up 'fun fairs' for the children- which involves lots of play, play, play! The children aren't always given the chance to in their small villages, so this project is really fun.
Our third is one of the art fans- we've opened a creative art workshop for the children, and here they get the opportunity to paint, get crafty and generally make a bit of a mess. Ace!

Days 11-15
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll transfer over to Agra where you’ll get the chance to see the amazing Taj Mahal*- one of India’s iconic sights. Expect to be blown over, the Taj Mahal is amazing! The next day you’ll then move on to the incredible Delhi where you’ll have lots of free time to get to grips with the city and explore to your hearts content.
On Day 13, the day will kick off with a guided tour of New Delhi, where you’ll get the chance to drive through the India Gate, Parliament House and President’s Palace. Later we’ll see the building which was built in memory of Gandhi- Raj Ghat, and learn more about his life. The last point of call for the day will be a visit to a Sikh temple- Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, where you’ll learn about the youngest religion in the world whilst soaking up the atmosphere of the area.
You’ll spend the next day transferring over to Haridwar by road, where you’ll get some quality time to kick back and relax, with the following day providing the perfect opportunity to visit the locals temples, including Chandi Devi and Mansa Devi, along with a several others. You’ll then transfer over to Rishikesh which is known for having a fantastic view of the Ganges and the main bathing that takes place!

I've done this trip
Write reviewGreat experience, unforgettable, culturally enriching, made new friends, lifetime memories
The Taj Mahal was fantastic along with the Elephant and Camel rides! The cultural experiences are also a trip highlight!
Pack light! you will not need as much stuff as you might imagine, clothes are also very cheap in India if you find you need more. Get a Caxton Fx card, it has many great benefits for travelling anywhere. Don't expect anything like home, it might sound obvious but some people expect 5* treatment and accommodation...not going to happen in India.
Hampi! I think some time in Goa should be taken out of the 28 days and supplemented with a short stay in Hampi. It may cost slightly more but would definitely be worth it!
Go For It And Grasp It With Both Hands!

The Taj Mahal experience was fantastic! Photograh's can never portray the real beauty! It was amazing. The camel safari was also a brilliant experience and surprisingly relaxing with an amazing view.
1. Expected the unexpected. 2. Don't expect 5* accomodation - take it in your stride and enjoy the cultural experience. 3.Don't curry to taste like it does at home, experience different foods :)
During indepedent travel after the programme I visited Hampi. This was an amazing place with a great vibe for tourists. In the last week of the programme instead of 9 days in Goa a couple of these days could have been spent in Hampi.
The Local Team Were 10/10 - They Make You Feel Very Comfortable In Their Country And Go To Great Lengths To Ensure Your Stay Is Amazing!

Get a visa before you go (one of our guys didn't and had to cancel), that's kind of important. Research the country before you go. Be patient - especially in India.

A fantastic trip to India which allowed me to see so much of the country within a short space of time, understand the culture and enjoy working in local communities. It was truly a trip of a lifetime and one that I will never forget. The IDEX team were superb and the trip could not have been better organised. I felt safe with the group and every IDEX guide that we were with showed the greatest amount of courtesy and respect. I would recommend this trip to anyone. My favourite location was Amber Fort just outside of Jaipur and this was closely followed by the Taj Mahal - a magnificent structure. I wish I could have stayed longer!
The Taj Mahal, Red Fort + Elephant Ride, Camel safari, experiencing new foods and Indian culture, making new friends, amazing markets.
Make the most of every experience, try everything and be positive.

Met awesome people, did things i wouldn't have dreamed of!
Meeting some lovely people, going to the Taj Mahal, visiting beautiful places, helping the local community and relaxing for a week in Goa!
1) Be open minded (Asian toilets and cold showers are not THAT bad) 2) Relax and enjoy the experience 3) Make the most of opportunities given
Challenging, thought provoking, humbling experience, new friends
Visiting the Taj Mahal, going on an elephant, riding on a camel through the desert, going to beaches and meeting like minded people that I got on really well with.
Take a rucksack not a suitcase, as I have learnt from first hand experience! Take a bum bag as they are really handy I drank a Yakult a day for a month before I went and I didn't get Delhi Belly.
Eye opener to a new culture, unforgettable expriences, amazing people.
Taj Mahal, Amber Fort in Jaipur and our volunteering experience. It was great having only 7 of us as we all became really close friends by the end. It was great to see so much of India. The camel safari in the desert was one of the best parts of the trip.
Emerse yourself in the culture of the country. Go with an open mind. Experience everything!
