Below are some questions Real Gap Experience frequently gets asked about travelling abroad. We hope they help you but if you have any questions of your own, our travel advisors are always there to help.
I am worried about travelling alone – will I meet other people?
Absolutely, on the majority of our trips you will be in a group and you will have the opportunity to get in touch with your fellow participants before you depart through our buddy list system!
What should I pack?
It's up to you what you take - just remember that you'll be able to buy most things in-country and that the lighter you travel the easier it is. Forget the luxury items! You will receive extensive pre-departure information with tips about items which might be useful but the general rule is - pack your bag then remove at least half of what you've just put in there!
What is the best way to take money with me?
Check with your bank what overseas charges your bank cards will incur and be sure to let them know you’re travelling. Once you’ve spoken you should take at least a couple of the following - ATM card/Caxton card, credit card and some emergency money!
Are flights included?
Only with Round the World Trips, no other trips include flights.
Is the visa fee included in the price of the programme?
Generally no, unless specified in the programme information
Will I need any vaccinations or malaria tablets?
Unfortunately we cannot advise you on this as we’re not medically qualified; however your doctor or nurse will be able to give the current information on required and recommended vaccinations and malarial advice.
When can I book my flights?
You’re free to book your flights when your programme has been confirmed and your Online Account has been set up (exceptions apply).
