RG's Guide to Safety Abroad

You may think, “safety” oh, this is a blog for the parents… and yes, it is important for them to read through, but in actual fact, you are the one who will be travelling, you are the one who will have to think on their feet if you get into any sticky situations and it will be you who is peeling profusely if you get super sunburnt somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere!

There are load s of forums and blogs you can read to give you great travel tips, but sometimes you can feel like you’re...

Hannah in Zimbabwe: Rhino and Elephant Conservation

Why did you pick the project?

The variety of this trip really interested me and the fact that the project was so hands on was great! You truly got to experience “reserve life” and got to know the animals, staff and children well.

How could I choose?! Seeing Tafika the black rhino on her 4 month birthday, dancing with the locals during a traditional Shona culture evening, meeting amazing people, having Tatenda the rhino living right next door... the list goes on!

Typical day?

You have...

1) Sorry to break it to you, but... you look a bit pasty. A bit of colour in your cheeks would do you the world of good (all of team RG are as white as sheets and it's just not right)

RG's Hannah in Africa: Botswana and Namibia

RG's Hannah is putting us all to shame by spending months on end in the beautiful Africa. The next step of her journey? Botswana and Namibia!

'I got to spend just on 2 weeks in Botswana and Nambia.

We travelled to the Okavango Delta in Botswana and spent two days camping on the edge of it. Again, the weather was great. My biggest regret was not doing a small plane flight over the Delta to see its sheer size and the animal herds from above - so if you get a chance, make sure you do! Not much...

Island hopping Fiji Style!

After we left the awesome staff at Coral View resort we made our way on the boat to Beachcomber island, the official party island of Fiji.
We were so tired after the emotional goodbye, the first night we just chilled in the 120 bed dorm room!! It certainly was an experience, there were no walls, just nets, and so many beds all in little clusters. Thankfully there were only around 20 people in the room so it wasn't too busy :-)
Our first full day on the island involved lots of sun bathing,...

My Experience: Game Ranger Internship and Big 5

For the last ten weeks, wildlife enthuasiast Nicky Lawrence has spent time at our Big 5 reserve in South Africa, participating on our Game Ranger Internship (with a splash of volunteering thrown in for good measure). Check out her blog post on her experience below!

Warning, the old cliché of "the best experience of my life" applies here! I spent 10 weeks at the game reserve in South Africa and it didn't disappoint.
The internship itself is hard work, I cannot lie about that, its a lot of...
