The Gibbon Rehabilitation Centre, which borders the stunning jungle of Phetchaburi, houses groups of gibbons that are ready for rehabilitation or to go back into the wild.

The centre homes many different species of Thailand’s wild animals, but a large percentage of animals that are brought to the centre are gibbons, a small ape that is native to some parts of Thailand. The gibbon is an endangered primate and at the centre the gibbons have the chance to live on large natural islands, where they can slowly adapt to life back in the trees. On the islands, over 50 gibbons can be accommodated, a far better alternative than living in cages. There is also a protected forest of about 24 hectares, with rehabilitation enclosures to prepare gibbons for life in the jungle. The rehabilitation forest also has a nature trail for education for visitors.
