Anybody who has a passion for playing or coaching netball will have an amazing experience on this programme. As long as you have some understanding of the game you will be able to offer great assistance to the children that you will coach, whether you just play socially with friends, have represented your school, club or university team or even as far as holding coaching qualifications. By coaching these children you will start to give these enthusiastic players the chance to play the sport they love in an organised and fun environment.
As a coach the first part of your programme will be to help organise and run training clinics and matches for the children in the townships that skirt the city of Port Elizabeth, as well as providing them with decent netball equipment. During this time you will not only start to form relationship with the players but also help improve your confidence in your role. The second part of your placement will be planning netball tournaments that will incorporate both matches and team-building activities that will give the players a good understanding of the 'basics' and the experience of a team structure. By teaching the children passing and shooting techniques, as well as position holding, movement and team play, your players will develop rapidly. From complicated technical play to fitness training, you will soon develop your own coaching programme, unique to you and your players.
