In today's world, you can't help but be aware of climate change and the concerns about the effects it is having on our planet, its people and all the wildlife that inhabit it. You may have seen pictures of polar ice caps melting along with polar bears drowning, or devastating droughts in developing countries, that cause crop failures and famines.
Every time you take a flight, carbon dioxide and numerous greenhouse gases are released into the world's atmosphere. These gases cause climate change and your flights are the biggest environmental impact of every trip you make.
We have joined forces with Climate Care to enable you to do this, as they can offset your carbon emissions for you, through a range of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. These projects aim to help communities around the world, as well as fighting climate change. They include:
- Establishing energy efficient stoves in the homes of some of the poorest communities in Honduras
- Helping to restore rainforests in Uganda
- Replacing diesel pumps with human-powered pumps to assist irrigation of crops in India
- Installing energy efficient and ecologically aware lighting in low-income households in South Africa
